But when you shoulder your Herman H1 and squeeze into the morning subway commute, or toss your laptop and a sixpack of beer inside to meet friends after work – what does this bag really mean to you?

We’ve always believed: what a person truly needs hides in the moments they shift between states. From the office to the subway, from the subway to a friend’s place, from Monday to Friday to the weekend getaway – a bag that feels just right through all these transitions is a genuinely good bag.

With that belief, we refined every detail of the Herman H1. Below are the designs that give it its soul – and the moments when you’ll finally discover their genius.

Items always settle right in the bottom centre.

No matter how you toss things into your bag, gravity pulls them to the lowest central point. That’s not your fault – it’s physics. So the main compartment of the Herman Pro starts from this physical truth: leave ample space at the bottom, place the dedicated tech section on the side, and put quickaccess pockets at the front and top. Everyday items are within easy reach – no rummaging, no turning the whole bag upside down.

Aha moment: You realise that even when you need to stuff an extra jacket inside, it fits perfectly without crushing your laptop or charger. Everything stays in its own place, undisturbed.

We wanted a closure you can operate with one hand.

In the world of commuter bags, closure design is one of the most overlooked details. Most buckles require two hands to align; metal clips scratch jacket linings; regular plastic clips are impossible to fasten with wet hands.

The H1’s magnetic quickrelease buckle – snaps shut automatically when you bring the two sides close, releases with a onehanded slide. We’ve integrated it into the semiroll top so that opening your bag changes from a stopandstruggle motion to something you do effortlessly.

In tests, with practice, onehanded open/close takes under a second. The magnet strength is precisely calibrated: even when the bag is packed full, it won’t accidentally pop open, yet it’s always light enough that you never need two hands.

Aha moment: You’re in line paying, holding your phone, and you close the bag with your free hand. The person next to you is still fumbling with both hands, trying to align their buckle. You don’t mean to show off, but you notice the difference.

We chose fabric that can survive a thousand days.

Creating a product that truly lasts and becomes more beloved with use is our ultimate goal. That’s why the Herman H1 uses LYCRA® fabric – because it solves three problems at once: water resistance, stretch, and hand feel.

The waterrepellent layer makes rain and coffee bead up and roll off instead of soaking in; the stretch lets the fabric naturally conform to the shape of your items when packed, giving you slightly more usable space than the stated volume; the smooth, quiet hand feel keeps it silent in libraries, subways, and meeting rooms – no crinkly waterproofbag noise.

We’ve also labtested colourfastness and abrasion resistance to ensure that after years of daily use, it still feels as good as the day you got it.

Aha moment: You accidentally spill coffee on the bag and instinctively frown. Then you see the liquid bead up and roll right off, barely leaving a trace. You wipe it with a tissue, and the surface looks brand new again.

Your laptop is the most valuable thing you carry – it deserves serious protection.

The H1’s dedicated tech compartment isn’t just “a laptop sleeve”. It’s lined with soft antiscratch fleece; EVA foam absorbs shock; a 16inch MacBook fits snugly with zero wiggle, zero abrasion.

The tech compartment is physically isolated from the main compartment, so your laptop never has to share space with a water bottle, lunchbox, or charger. The logic is simple: whatever your laptop is worth, your tech compartment should be just as serious.

Aha moment: One day at a café, you accidentally knock your bag off a chair. Your heart sinks. You open the bag and check – the laptop is flawless, no pressure marks on the screen. You remember that layer of EVA foam, and for the first time you’re truly grateful it’s there.

In the commuter bag world, functionality and a professional look rarely go together.

A wellshaped business bag often has a flimsy harness system – your shoulders ache after a full day of commuting. A comfortably padded functional bag looks too casual when you walk into the office. Balancing the two has always been a challenge. The Herman H1’s answer: don’t sacrifice function for looks, and don’t sacrifice looks for function. The supple texture of LYCRA® fabric keeps it from looking cheap in business settings; the clean silhouette of the semiroll top keeps it from looking bulky in formal environments; four cushioned pads on the back panel absorb shock, while the shoulder straps evenly distribute weight for allday comfort. Two size options let you choose based on your daily agenda – you don’t need separate bags for commuting and for travel.

Aha moment: You finally realise that while a multitude of practical pockets is important, you don’t need to carry something that looks like a tactical gear bag to a meeting. A backpack with rich internal organisation and a clean, minimalist exterior – that’s the ideal professional companion. The Herman H1 is that answer.

One day it will hit you: this bag has been with me for a long time.

We set aside fleeting trends and focused on a timeless, enduring silhouette; we designed a structure that adapts to multiple scenarios; we chose materials that are easy to clean, that block rain, that last; we added extra padding so that even long hours of carrying remain comfortable.

The Herman H1’s builtin luggage strap is a miniature example of this longterm design philosophy. Hidden behind the back panel, you never notice it. Until one day at the airport, you’re pulling your roller suitcase with one hand, you suddenly remember it’s there, slip the bag over the handle – and your hands are free, your stride is light.

At that moment, you’ll think back to when you first saw that feature and thought, “I’ll probably never use that.”

Aha moment: Unknowingly, this bag has been with you for nearly a thousand days. The cushioning on the back panel is still springy, the fabric still repels water, the zippers still glide smoothly. And you, today, appreciate its goodness even more than the day you first held it.
